What it’s (basically) all about: Sunako is back and Kyohei, Takenaga, Ranmaru and Yuki are still trying to trun her gothic style into something more ladylike. In this second volume of The Wallflower they celebrate Halloween,  get in trouble with a gang boss that’s in love with Sunako and have adventures in cooking. And is there romance in the air?

Nitty Gritty:

Language- Subtitled version includes damn, dammit, son of a bitch and the dubbed version bitch. The language is overall very mild.

There is some innuendo and in episode 8 Kyohei and Sunako both get in fights, but overall it’s not violent and there are no inappropriate sexual scenes.

In episode 9 they visit a hot spring- and there is surprisingly little stylized nudity involved. It’s also the first of a two part episode, the second part of which is on volume three.

Special Features include clean opening animation (same stylized nudity as volume 1), the on-air opening for episodes 1-13, clean closing animation, DVD credits, and ADV previews for Welcome to the NKH, Devil May Cry (this one is on the violent side), 5 centimeters per second, Kanon, Project Blue Earth SOS, and Gurren Lagann (the preview is aimed at older audiences, though not necessarily mature ones.)

One thing to note is that individual volumes are not available any longer- the complete collection is available in two parts (volumes one and two in collection one and volumes two and three in collection two), which is more economical.

Survey says: This series is funny and appropriate for teens.

Personal Ad: I really like this series. It’s funny, lighthearted, and even heartwarming at times. I’ll be adding it to my personal collection.
